Company and client data — basic rules

Simple habits to protect data at work

When you work with a company’s data and its clients’ data, you don’t need to be a security expert. A few simple habits, done consistently, make almost all the difference. The most important: your password is yours alone, and on any mistake or suspicion, you speak up fast — you don’t hide it.

Basic rules

  1. Don't share your work password with anyone — not a colleague, not the "IT department" calling you.
  2. Turn on the "second step at sign-in" (2FA) on your work accounts.
  3. Use only the apps and tools approved by your company; don't upload client data to personal services (personal email, personal drive, unapproved apps).
  4. Lock your screen when you step away from your desk, even for a minute.
  5. Client data is confidential — treat it as if it were your own.
  6. If you made a mistake or suspect a leak, report it immediately. Speed matters more than embarrassment.
